Computer ALWAYS Freezes / Lock up

I have a laptop, hp dv6500t and it always freezes / locks up when I play games. Like sometimes, I would have to manully push the shut down button. WHAT IS UP WITh THAT! I believe it might be overheating, but hwo can I confirm this? Anyone know?
 
Please list your PC specs,OS etc..anything overclocked?

Being its a laptop is it new or old?..You tried running memtest86+ to rule out any faulty memory problems.

Tried different video drivers etc..

Air vents clear and dust free?
 
More info is needed. Does your lappie vary much from the reviewed example here?

Also, it would be useful to know exactly what games and actions cause the freeze. Such crashes are often the result of a collision when two actions try to access the same bit of memory.
