Just 2? Get 3 so you can do a raid 5. 😀 I actually have 3x 1TB deathstars myself in my server and so far they've been great.

🙁 I honestly Would do raid 5, but the problem is I'm using onboard controller.

If I could convince myself to spend another 600 dollar for a decent controller. then yea I'd go for raid 5 :sneaky::sneaky:

I don't even trust the onboard for Raid 0/1

No way am I gonna trust it for Raid 5

I put a 1TB Western Digital Cavier Green in my HP Mediasmart Server last night, as I was starting to run out of server space. What a treat. Open the front hinged door, slid out the tray, put the drive in the tray, slide the tray back in, click add drive on the home server console and it was done in under two minutes. No power down, reboot, no formating just simply the easiest hard drive install I have ever done.

I'd love a media server, If I ever put in a gigabit backbone. Sadly, I can't convince myself to do this because I'm the only person using the internet.

SOB" I'm sooo ronryyy..."🙁

Yep hot swap is awesome. I have 4 extra slots in my linux server and I can pop a drive in any time and create a new raid array and bring it online without a reboot. Same if one fails.

It was a happy day when I finally convinced myself we needed the server, and I haven't looked back, but we have 7 computers attached to the network.

I'll never forget the day my son came down stairs and said "Dad, I can see everyone's iTunes and Media Player libraries on the network and play anything I like, it's so awesome ... Thanks Dad".

Did you smell the air as you broke the seal on the static bag? Nothing smells better. Well perhaps the smell of the retail cooler Intel provides with the i7 980X.

This just in! Flight sims are for girls and men who want to be girls. More at 10.

I like driving sims much better because you can run into stuff without the game complaining as much. Hitting the ground at 200 knots doesn't sound nearly as exciting as speeding through JC Penny's Blues Brothers style. 😀

What sim what that?! Oh please, do share! 😀

Racing sims are real great. It takes something I actually know how to do, and gives me the virtual room to take it to the extreme.

Learning to do a whole new thing in a sim? Lame.
Increasing the ability of an already acquired skill? Win.

Especially the good sims that actually do help teach you, somewhat, how to take it to the real road.

This is a theory. I need a real racetrack, and a borrowed car with no liability or responsibilities at all, to test this theory.
Any takers?

It wasn't a computer game but a simulator room. They loaded in an "easter egg" [sic] program and let me drive "the big rig". 😀
