I just saw an advert on TV here in the UK advertising a Turion-powered notebook, and it struck me that this was probably the very first time I'd seen AMD mentioned in a TV ad.
I was wondering if anyone else had seen AMD advertised on TV?

This is the kind of exposure AMD needs, IMO.

I can't think of ever seeing one here in the US, but I don't watch alot of TV.
I agree that I believe advertising would be good because the general public truly believes an AMD processor is a lower quality product than an Intel product.

I have over the last 5 years seen like 1 or 2 commercials but usually by the maker of the PC and not the cpu maker themselves...I have seen quite a few Mag ADs though...

well there's a difference between AMD pushing their own products and a 3rd party computer supplier pushing AMD's products in one of their own.

I remember when Gateway offered AMD powered systems, they'd have commercials then about their AMD computers, but again this isn't something direct from AMD like intel's bluemen campaign.

I remember an AMD Athlon/Opteron ad for their laptops, involving Lance Armstrong. I think it was on the travel channel but I'm not sure; either that or the food or history channel.

AMD doesnt need ad on TV, Radio or newspaper. They have enough customers and enough ppl know how good they are. and btw the internet offers free ad made by forum ppl. why try to make mom and pop buy AMD, when u can make their kids, who will allways spend more money, buy AMD. And lets not forget, the best ad is a great product. ppl will tell each other, maybe this kind of ad by the ppl for the ppl is even more powerful than studid tv commercials. look at the forums, i dont see any ppl asking: What Intel should i buy? Most request are AMD related and if not then ppl will allways at least suggest to buy AMD instead of Intel.

Like it or not, knowledgable forum members comprise a tiny minority of buyers.
The vast majority of systems are sold to people who really don't know an awful lot about IPC, clock speeds etc., and the relative few who have heard of AMD seem to be under the impression that they're some obscure little company who make cheap copies of Intel processors - a stigma hardly deserved.

If you can convince Intelia that the video is actually an Intel product brief, you may find a willing, if oblivious host. :)

Well maybe AMD never needed ads until now because it was barely keeping up with demand. Now with the new fab ready, it might start something.

As far as I can remember, the only AMD ad I've seen is in a popular science magazine.

Remember the train spot during the Super Bowl. The guy was running an Intel machine and an AMD machine and was downloading (or doing something) and the AMD got done quicker but the Intel didn't and the train came and ...

Now we all now how important the cpu is to download speeds right ;)
