Why aren't Compusa empolyees aren't always friendly. I noticed Best Buy are more friendly and helpful than compusa....

I went to Compusa last saturday morning to look for color sidekick. There was nobody in the cell phone/pda center so I was looking for someone to help me out with that. I saw front manager walking by, I asked him that I need someone to help with that and he said "okay wiat a min" . He walked forward to the front, where is the registers are, talked to other saleman. It took about more than five mins then standing to act like if he's busy. He refused to look back cuz he knew i was looking at him as what is the hell he doing? Then I gave up and looked for another saleman to help me. Aw, the saleman from the computer area walked by and noticed that I was having a hell of time to find some help. He said okay, what do u need? I pointed to that sidekick. He said, " yeah, what do u need to know about it?" I told him that I want a color sidekick and look at it. He looked around as if he could find someone to help me instead but he decided to go in behind of the counter to get the color sidekic box. I looked at the box and wanted to know if i could open it and test it. The saleman shook his head and acted impatience. I looked behind as if he was in hurry. Finally, i asked him to do the price check, he grabbed and scanned it then hold the box as if I could possibly steal it. I told him that the price check wasn't correct cuz it's 525.99 dollars. I heard it was supposed to be around 299.99 dollars after activiation. He shook his head "NO" and put the box back in the locked box. The jerk went to help other customers.

I decided to go to customer service to ask someone who is familar with sidekick stuff. The lady grabbed the phone and called someone to come help me out with that. The other young saleman came and listened what I was asking. I even showed him the price listed fromt T-Moible and Compusa (printed on website) from my mono sidekick. The young saleman told me that they don't have that in stock. I shook my head and pointed him to that box as if he's bullshitting around. He said it's only for new t-mobile customers since I m already t-moble customer. I showed him the proof with my currenlty black and white sidekick. He's being annoyed and said " I couldn't sell ya at 299.99 unless you want to buy it at 525.99". So I finally told him, no I m not getting it for myself. Im getting for my friendnd's b day. He got confused and wasnt sure what to do so decided to approached the compusa manager. AFter that, the manager had to call someone else for another 20 mins... Totally wasting of my time... I decided to look around the new computers. The young saleman came back saying that he still refuse do that and I have to bring my friend to prove all her info.

I got really angry and said that's absoutely bullshit and walked out...

I swore i will never shop at compusa.....

Err, you realize that often to get a promo price for a cell phone, you have to activate a new account on the spot, right? You can't just go buy the phone for the lower price and tell them you'll activate it later.

Amnesiac, I was going to activate it. Same way cuz it's instant rebate.... They still refused.

I called T-mobile and got good deal on it... Cheaper than compusa....

Why in the world would you go to CompUSSR instead of T-Mobile store? Don't you have those in your area?

i cant agree more.

they are ALL bad (best buy, circuit city.. etc) but compusa is the worst.

and their rebates NEVER come (at least not for me).

I dont shop at compUSA. unless I dont have to deal with rebates/morons that work there.

oh yeah they also have restock fee.

You can't get the thing at the sale price if it says clearly with brand new activation ONLY! And if you wanted to get it for your friend you would need to sign up a brand new line under your name for HER. They don't just sell the unit itself... they do but you would be paying the $525 that they said you would pay.

So unless you were going to sign up a brand new one year contract for your friend's birthday then you weren't going to get it for the $299.99 price tag.

Since they didn't help you I would go check out a regular kiosk and or a T-Mobile retail store somewhere.

Are you sure you were gonna sign up a brand new contract for a friend? That must be one helluva friend... do you trust him or her that much to buy them a phone with a contract?

Uhhh, maybe they were rude, but they were just following their policy. They have policies for a reason you know. It's not just to piss people like you off.

Good service, well trained people costs money. Apparently CompUSA's management has decided it makes the bottom line nicer if they save in labor costs. They only feedback they will understand is a loss in revenues due to poor service.

Nocturnal is right. Best Buy, Compusa and Circuit city all has the same policy. Extra charges will apply if you don't do the in-store activation. But, i agree that they're rude to you, they could have acted more willing to help and answer your confusion nicely. The manager shoud've given you the answer actually.

What i usually do to my customer is exlaining to them about the policy before i talk about the phone they're insterested at. New customer usually stay but existing customer walked. Do we miss them? NO, not at all.

Next time, buy Sprint, it's easy to buy phone for them.
