In checking Resellerratings.com for some different companies, I noticed CompUSA is low (lifetime 2.52). In reading the remarks a bunch of folks never got rebates. I thought back and realized I never got rebates for CD-R's and CD drives I purchased there. I'd probably never find my paperwork now, it set me to thinking that there might be a lot of folks like me that never got their $5.00-10.00 rebates. Maybe something for the consumer groups to look in to. Anyone else?

I think that you have to take into consideration that almost all rebates that are offered are through the PRODUCT MANUFACTURER (IE - you buy a Memorex CD-RW bundle with a rebate, Memorex is responsible for giving you your rebate). It's not CompUSAs fault, but that why they have such a low rating.

Ive got every single CompUSA rebate Ive sent in... probably about $400 worth on CD burners, scanners, and memory.

Yeah for some reason most people blame the retailer rather than the shady manufacturer.

FWIW, I believe I've received all the rebates for goods purchased at CompUSA, and there have been more than a few.

Don't think I ever got my rebates back... it was many years ago, but I would never go shop there again.

Now when you send in your compusa rebates, you just go to wheresmyrebate.com so you can check its status. They sure do take their time though. Two rebates I sent in late october have been approved but they they will be sent on 1/1/03 grrrr...

Nah, CompUSA won't get much of my business. Especially if a rebate is involved.

Yes, but CompUselessA takes full advantage of the rebate by plastering the cheap price all over their sale circulars - and then stating in small, fine print "After $25.00 rebate." CompUselessA is just as guilty as the companies that don't pay their rebates because they're an accessory to the crime. :(

Hmmm... I built my ex-ex-ex-ex-gf a computer 3.5 years ago and had one of those $39 - $20 rebate Cd-Rom drives and a sound card from compusa.. and I believe the rebates were directly to them... never saw a penny from those bastards.
