Please:
What else is on sale at Office Max? I do know (from a thread I saw in Hot Deals forum earlier this week, but I can't seem to find now using search) that OM has a $80 mail in MIR for WD 80gb 7200 rpm drive. I was in during the week, & they are being kind enough to hold one for me. Price was $199.... before MIR.

I am hoping that a competitor will have it on sale also, so price matching could be possible. Also, this drive is NOT available at OM.com. I talked to csr, who suggested I print out my OM.com only coupon, take it to B&M, & they may honor because could not be purchased online!

If someone sees this drive on sale, please post it in this thread. Thank You.

The new thread has a link to the OfficeMax ads here.

Office Max.com has a rebate coupon available for a $60 rebate on WD 60gb 7200 (12/2-12/8) and a WD 80gb 7200 for $80 (12/16-12/22), but these drives can only be purchased at B&M. I went to B&M, rebate coupon showing both drives attatched to shelf in front of WD hard drives. Put one 80gb on hold to pick up during rebate period.
As I stated, I am:
1. hoping someone else will have this drive on sale for pricematch, and
2. going to try to get B&M to accept online coupon, since drive is not available online.

BTW, shelf price was $199....

I have the coupon book and in there is definitely the $80 off coupon for the 80GB drive. May be they overlooked it or it's too hot for them to advertize openly.

which is better performance-wise?

WD 80GB 7200RPM HD Retail for $119 ($199-$80MIR) at Officemax

or

Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB 7200RPM HD Bare for $119 ($169-$50) at Fry's (N. Cal Bay Area)

Sort of leaning to the bare drive cuz less out of pocket expense. and if i get a dud, ill just return it.. not worries there.

Those CDRW's are Cendyne brands, has anyone's experience on it be good or bad? Does anybody know of a site that reviewed this drive. Cendyne's site doesn't really tell much about the drives.

I'm hoping to snag one of the 24x's for a friends computer. Need your inputs.

Greatly aprreciate it!! :)

BTW, thanks for the post crobusa! :D

Hehe Fallout Tactics....they still speak of the days when {NaW}Chiz regulated the wastelands on Gamespy Arcade ;) :D
I still have my characters sitting on an old HD somewhere...maybe I'll have to bust out my "Sneak-Minigunner" or even worse, my "Flechette-Pancorer." :D

Thanks for the heads-up Uncle!

Bugabo, there's an extra https:// on your link. thanks any way, BTW those reviews were pretty much a description of the drives. Not much comparisons and tests being done.

Just got the Cendyne 24x10x40 drive, (can't find the 30 off 100)
$109.99 - $25 (25 off 100)= $84.99 + tax (6.80) - $20 rebate = $71.79 (w/ free shipping)

not bad for a deal! :) :D

<< Those CDRW's are Cendyne brands, has anyone's experience on it be good or bad? >>

I've been very happy with the 16x10x40 Cendyne (rebadged TEAC) that I bought from CompUSA in May.

I've been extremely UNHAPPY with the handling of my rebate. Seems Cendyne switched from using wheresmyrebate.com to handling it internally. Only discovered this after calls were made to wheresmy rebate. Initially they referred me back to the retailer.

Cendyne called me at home to get drive serial number (Oct 18) and told me check would be sent in ~2 weeks.

Last correspondence with Cendyne, they asked for copies of invoice, rebate form, serial number. I thought it was a done deal per the previous call.

Now, my emails to them, asking for confimation they received the above documents, are being ignored.

Next correspondence will probably have to be with FTC and/or State AG offices, and possibly CompUSA corporate office since this does not seem to be getting resolved any other way.

EDIT Naturally, I'll feel obligated to anyone posing a

<< What about Cendyne ? >>

question about my tale of woes
