Hi all. I'm new at this, so please go easy on me. Anyway, i stopped into compusa today, and they had 50 spindles of compusa brand cd-rw's for $30. However, they're only 4x write and 2x rw. =| Hot deal or not?

No, not really a hot deal. I just picked up a 50-spindle of 700meg 8x Imation for $19.95 from Outpost.com (after rebate of course) with free shiping.

Read thru some of the older topics in the forum, that'll give you a good idea of what folks here consider a "hot deal". ;)

for those of you who are interested the SKU for the 50 CDRWs is 267735
we just got a box today.....also make note that there are two different boxes with this SKU, one of them is considerably bigger because it has a spindle, the smaller one apparently just has 50 cdrws....have fun

I've been using the CompUSA branded cdrw's for over 7 months's and no problems yet. I got 20 for 20$. They came in their own little case. Not a bad deal.

Just a note if it is a 2x RW it will only write at 2x and no faster.

From what I can tell the Write speed must be coded on the disc.

If anyone knows how to force a 2x RW to write at 4x please tell me because I still have 30RW's and RW at 2x is just sucky

Sorry for the late update, but anyhow... these 2x rw's are actually writing at 4x for me. I have an HP8250i, btw. Cheers!
