CompUSA buying Good Guys for 55.6 mil

Freaking corporate weanies are the only people that really benefit from this kind of thing. I am sooo freaking glad I leaving compusa (compUSSR -- lol)

They do all this playing around, shafting their employees one way or another -- all for what? So some rich guy can buy another yacht? Keep in mind that CompUSA is a privately own company for the time being.

For example -- someone guys a $2000 projecter -- and guess what? The guy who sold it gets no credit whatsoever -- because it's a 1 item ticket. CompUSA has noticed that the average items per ticket is <2 and so they changed their incentive program for sales people and all the salespeople have to get 3 + items per ticket on average just to get some % of the sales as commision.

So now what happens as a result of this? Compusa sells more paper and screen wipes because the salesperson throws them in at some obscene discount. Ridiculous nonsense. I'm just waiting for them to finally lay off a bunch of people when they realize they can't really improve their sales that much.

I finally have a job in the field of my choice (paying 2x + as this job) and it's just pathetic watching the way compUSA plays around with their employees. It's such a pathetic amount of $ they pay out and they still have to go and try short people even more.

But hey, that's just my perspective

Hey, at least Cusa provides some FAR stuff and some nice PMing to CC! In the past, Cusa used to be my fav, but now I think Omax has tons more good deals. BB used to be my 2nd fav, but now they're very low on my scale.

Good Guys, OTOH, sux. I went in, all overpriced home theater stuffs (c'mon people, get some computer related electronics as well....)

Good Guys is great!! You guys forget that you can haggle with the salespeople. You never pay what the price on the shelf is. Use the Ferengi Force when you walk into that store. You can get 10% just by asking most of the time. My best deal at GG:

Kenwood KAC-X201T two channel amp. Shelf price: $319. I paid $250 + tax after talking to the guy for a few minutes.

Good guys is a HIGH end audio/video store, they are one of the few that's a chain company. They don't make their profit off small bulk sales, they make it off putting together good systems for people.

I used to work there, close $2,000 - $10,000 deals for people who wanted to put together a home theater.

Car audio items are typically 50 point items, making your amp's dealer cost $160ish. You probably could have gotten it for much, much less.

Being from GG I wasn't complaing. The cheapest I found it online was $220 and that would not have had a warranty (since it wasn't an authorized retailer).
