I ordered the CDRWs earlier this evening and received confirmation email two hours ago, so I have a lifetime supply of CDRWs (don't use many of those).

Also, why bother having these things shipped. I did a stock check on area stores, and everyone seems to have them in stock

Thanks - nice deal on these, even better than Outpost.com deal as I don't need them shipped overnight.

I almost ordered this, then I rememebered that I have over 250 blank discs sitting at home right now. Considering I burn and average of 1 a month, that comes to about 20 years worth of CD-Rs. I really think I should hold off on this.

I have the CDRWs and couldn't burn at 4x with my Plextor 8432 but worked with a Yamaha...

Hawk: Regarding your problem with Plextor, there's a firmware upgrade on Plextor's site that addresses 4x burns:

"Optimized Running OPC routine to improve write performance with CD-R media.
Improved writing performance with some 4x speed rated CD-RW media."

Check out the upgrade, may solve your problem. There are other bugs that the firmware addresses including "Improved read performance of packet written CD-RW discs (UDF). Before this change, drive was reading only at 4x. Now the drive reads such discs at 10x max speed.".
