if you where lucky enough to get the cyndyne this week from officemax(cost me $70 after rebate & coupon), its a rebadged lite-on and it comes with nero 5.5. I got it and love it. I have a 12x lite-on as well and its a good little burner too.

That price on the HP 315 Digital Camera for $199 w/ a free 32mb flash card looks like a price I haven't seen before.

FYI - According to the B&M manager at my local CompUSA. the 50PK PNY CD-R SKU#288533 that was advertised today is a misprint and is not available. However, CompUSA is substituting their brand 50 pack CD-R media and they have printed new rebate forms that reflect the substitution. You can get your choice of the 50 pack FMI Gold 16X 80 Min CD-R SKU# 282617 or the 50 pack FMI Black 16X 80 MIn CD-R SKU# 282276. For those looking for a good deal on Black CD-Rs, this is a great deal for a 50 pack free after a $15.00 MIR!

Let's see -the CompUSA ad contains an error and they don't have the product listed. Instead of saying "tough, we don't have that" they offer you a choice of two different products at the same price - free! Gee, I wish more stores would bait and switch like that!

CompUSA products have a lower percieved value than the PNY branded stuff. It's like a store substituting compUSA brand memory for hotly priced crucial.

My Store in NJ had the pny cdr's,
Now I got the rebate and it doesn't list the pny sku 288533
Instead got the form with the fmi , sku 282517,282276
is there a separate rebate form for the PNY.
If any one has it can you scan it for me?
thanx again

Compusa branded memory is actually PNY memory last time i checked, but this was a few years ago. Their FMI stuff is crap. however PNY cd-r's aren't the hottest thing going if you ask me. their just as generic as the FMI stuff. I'd say this was a very fair replacement. the ads are made 5+ months ahead of time supposedly ( i used to work there ) and they really cant control stock sometimes...ok alot of times. personally ill never shop at compusa ever again after working there but thats just me.

My store actually has the Encarta for $39.99, less the $29.99 CompUSA rebate AND the $10 rebate from MS (in-box, I presume?). I wish it's the DVD version...

I picked up the free-after-MIR CompUSA brand 16X Black CDRs. They had some trouble finding the rebate form at the Culver City store, but they had piles and piles of the spindles, and now I think they've figured out the deal with the rebate form. I figure they may not be the highest quality, but for free I really can't complain. I'll spend more for quality ;)

At my local Comp...I checked out the 20X Que drive.

The ones here, have a "SeamLess Link" sticker. So these here, in my area, have buffer underun protection.

And I would guess, its an Acer drive inside. I didnt buy one, I didnt want one.

But a good price...for a 20x drive. Check your box first.

The only ones Ive seen with "Seamless Link" so far are Acers.

*Update* Now seen Philips drives with SeamLess Link

"Seamless Link feature helps prevent buffer under run errors"

<< someone please do a cdrinfo on the compusa CDRs, if u have the gold ones, even better.:) >>

Here is the info for the BLACK cd-r's.

ATIP: 97m 26s 51f
Disc Manufacturer: Lead Data Inc.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Very cool looking. At the store they only showed the black ones as a substitute. The rebate form shows both. Get the black. Give you collection of FREE after MIR cd-r's some color. :)

Has anyone had troubles using the black CD's? I can't read the data off the CD after it's burned. Tried two different burners so far and 3 different readers. I picked up two spindles but think I'm going to take the unopened one back and trade it for silver.

Just bought the Que drive. It is an ACER with Seamless Link. Pretty crappy drive - the review is up at CDRinfo but it does do perfect SD2 backups which is to only reason to keep this drive IMHO. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!
