I finally got and setup my MDP-130 HDTV Tuner yesterday and today, I recorded the 22nd episode of Season 4 of 24 in HD.

The episode is saved in .tp (DTV Transport Stream File) format

Unfortunately, the episode is about 6.45GB, so it won't fit on a DVD and I don't want to spend a ton of money on DL media.

Is there any way to compress it onto one DVD disc and have it be able to play in a DVD player that doesn't support DivX?

Or am I dreaming?

Or should I just wait for Blu-Ray PC Burners? 😛

Blu-ray > j00 😛

I've recorded an episode of 24 in HD as well, and though the transport stream was ~8GB, I believe I was able to use HDTV2MPEG2 (look it up on AVS forum) to bring the file size down to just over 4GB (still an MPEG2 file)...The program was very strange though, and I'm not sure I ever got audio playback working from the file (depending on which version of the program I used..)

I'll do that 🙂

It'll be SO MUCH better and easier when we get Blu-Ray burners 😀

(I want to get one before Goosemaster 😉)

And I'm seriously thinking of ordering a PS3 straight from Japan, extracting the Blu-Ray burner, and putting it into my PC 😛

Uh, the PS3 has a BluRay burner? I thought it was just a reader. To my knowledge, the MPAA is trying to block the release of HD-DVD and BluRay burners.

those bastads would try anything to limit our use of digital media. Well, it's not gonna work, they've already tried a bunch of times and failed.

There are going to be 2 PS3 models :

The first one to be released will have a BluRay-ROM and 160GB HDD

The second one to be released will have a BluRay-RW and 400GB HDD
