i have a 4.9 gb ISO that i want to compress or somehow make smaller to fit a 4.4 gb disk (they are supposed to be 4.7 but show as 4.4gb on nero)

i have 7 zip, i tried the default compression and it only compressed it to like 4.7 gb, i tried the other options like PPMD and bZip and still doesnt make em small enough to fit a dvd.

I thought ISO was a form of compression.

Compressing the files will prevent you from creating a bootable disk. Since the files would have to be loaded into the system then decompressed before they could run meaning this would have to happen inside of an OS. So it wouldn't be a bootable disk.

thanks, i didnt need it to be a bootable disk, just a data disk. i messed with 7z more and dinally ended up using the EXTREMEMc ompression, i only got the fiel down to about 4.2 gb but it worked for me now.
