You don't get the rebate unless you're upgrading from a previous version

Acutally, you can play the "competitive upgrade" part: Buy Norton and MCaffee antivirus (prefereably on different receipts). Then send the Norton proof of ownership (often the 1st page of the manual) to McAffee to qualify for the McAffee rebate, and send the McAffee to Symantec to qualify for their rebate.

you do end up paying tax on 2 prodcts instead of 1, and have to send twice as amny rebates, but it's clsoe enough to free in the end that it's well worth it.

Not really. You don't have to have had a previous version of the particular software being offered here. You just have to have proof of purchase from ANY Norton or McAfee product for the McAfee upgrade rebate and proof of purchase from ANY Norton, Symantec or some other software which I can't remember for the Norton upgrade MIR.

Idon't think papaschtroumpf's idea will work as the McAfee doesn't qualify for the Norton rebate. Rats.
