Composite video to VGA

Ok, so I want to connect a DVD player with composite (yellow RCA plug) output to an older LCD monitor with the VGA(Blu D-Sub).

I see online lots of cables that make this connection, but in the description they all talk going from a computer to a TV, which is the opposite of what I want to use it for. I am thinking it would work provided the monitor can run at 720x480 but wanted to see if anyone knew for sure.
