Component to VGA?

Sorry if this is misplaced, but I cannot think of anywhere else to post this.

What I want to achieve is find some sort of device to allow me to connect my old consoles to my PC monitor. I have already been able to connect the sound into my stereo system, and it seems a waste that my older consoles must suffer the graphical quality, while the sound is outstanding. Now, considering if I just buy a new TV for them, it would negate the entire reason to buy a component to VGA device, but I would much rather spend under $100 than over $400 (cheapest one I found in my area was $435).

Lastly, just in case someone asks, moving my consoles from the living room back into my room is a pain in the ass. My roommate does not know how to take care of anything and I refuse to leave my PS2 in the living room. All I have in my room is my 24" monitor and a piece of shit 13" Sansui TV that I used to play my older consoles on.

Any help is appreciated.

Well you have a couple of options availible. You can either get a video carpture card. Then the consoles will go threw your PC to get to the monitor. Down side to this is there is a delay from the time the video hit the card to the time its displayed on the monitor. Obviously effecting your gaming.

Another option is getting a converter box.

Problem is you'll need to either disonnect the monitor from the PC to plug it into the converter or you'll need to go threw a KVM switch.

SNES and N64. My roommate and I both have the ROM versions on our PCs, but it just isn't the same as playing on the original consoles. Considering I am the only one of us who has working consoles, they would be played on my monitor as opposed to being left in the living room for everyone to destroy.

That's exactly what I was looking for, though I wish the price was lower. My RF Modulator was only $20 at Radioshack and I was hoping to find a Component to VGA adapter for the same price.

Damn. I was unaware that there were so many of them. Still, the price is high, but it might be worth it in the long-run.

Thanks again.
