Hey guys

Just as a matter of interest, my A64 3200+ (Newcastle) idles at about 34-35 degrees celcius, and under load gets up to 55-60. Are these normal temps for my chip? Also, my Leadtek A400TDH (GeForce 6800 NU) idles at 52 and gets up to 63 under load.

My "old" P4 2.8C idled at 32 degrees, and under load would get up to 52-53.

I'm using decent thermal paste (Shin Etsu), and have a Gigabyte 3D Cooler Pro. My case has good airflow (it's a Cooler Master CMStacker with 120mm intake and exhaust fans, plus an 80mm on the top of the case.)

I'm just curious as to whether these temps are about right or not...

idles look ok. the load temps are higher than i am used to at stock speeds with stock heatsink. it depends on your room temp though. you could always try removing the hs and applying less or more thermal paste.

also if you are not overclocking it you could undervolt it a bit cause from what i have seen most a64's can do with 1.4 volts or less at 2.2 GHz

Your vid card temps seem very normal. The load temps for cpu are kinda high. When I was air cooling my amd64 2800, the idle was the same as yours. But the load was around 47C. Now I imagine the 3200 would get warmer but I don't know about 10C more.

How is your case circulation? That could make a pretty big difference.

I think my case circulation should be okay, as I have a 120mm intake, 120mm and 80 mm exhaust fans. I also have rounded IDE ribbons and have sleeved my PSU's wires...

Yeah your temps look ok. They might be +- what your getting for a reading (depending on your mobo, sensor location, etc), but in general they seem to be pretty normal. Question....how much of a load are you in when getting upwards to 60 C? I've broken into the 50's while doing a extensive burn-in, but never hit 60 before. I'd say keep a eye on it, as 60 seems a bit too high IMHO.

My CPU hits the high temps I mentioned when I've been running Prime95 for more than an hour.

Hey guys

Sorry to be resurrecting an old thread, but now that it's summer here in SA, I've noticed that my GPU idles at about 58 degrees...

Also, my system has locked up on me a few times in the last couple of days (after I've been running benchmarking software for a while), and I think my gfx card just might be overheating.

Is 58 too hot for a gfx card to be idling at?

My CPU was getting up to 62 under heavy load until recently... thankfully an XP-90 sorted that out.

My 6800LE is also idling around 59C @ stock speeds. My case also has an 120mm intake and outtake fan, so the airflow should be good.
I've read somewhere that the high limit on the gfx is around 100C, don't know for sure buy they seem to always be way hotter then a CPU..

My CPU (A64 3000+ @2,2Ghz) is 40 under full load (and it's always running 100%, distributed computing ;)) cooled by a Zalman Cu7000. Very silent and very good..
Case temp is ~35C
