Complications with SATA and IDE?

For a short time, I had an IDE HD installed on my system, along with 2 SATA drives. Occasionally, the computer would boot to the IDE, rather than the SATA. Is this a common problem? Are there other problems with having SATA and IDE co-existing? Just wondering before I buy another IDE drive to replace the old one that died. I'll be running it on a BFG NF4 board.

Sounds like the boot order on your mainboard may be changing.

I have setup a number of configurations like that, and run that config myself.

Has anything strange happened prior to rebooting when this happens (changed hardware, full power-down, etc). I had one system that would reset the BIOS everytime the system was powered off. If your BIOS settings are changing (or reverting back to default) then you may look at any BIOS updates that are available for that board
