Hello guys, i've been reading here for the last week before buying my new computer and you guys seemed pretty Knowledgable so i figured i'd see if you could help me with my problem.
I got a Asus A8V deluxe motherboard (no tech support on weekends thus i'm asking for help from you guys)
AMD 64 3000+
Geforce 6600 (i think GT model)
One Kinston 512 ram (333) and one PNY 512 ram (333)
memorx CDRW
some DVD drive, forget what it is (bought it about 1 and half ago)
Got a new viewsonic 171B also (the 8ms one, its sweet)
Ok, so i instaled these new parts into my computer, using my old harddrive (WD 7200rpm) and windows XP intalled ok. However, when i go into windows and try to install drivers for motherboard, soundcard, vidoecard etc. The CD drives wont' work. The CDRW (set as primary) gets an error message that says (The procedure entry point find resouce A, Get windows Directory A could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll) also, another time i got a User32.dll error message. the DVD drive will open stuff, but then it says it has some kind of problem finding and closes as well. so can't use either of my CDrom drives.
I tried using /scannow too but that doesn't work very well since i can't use my CDROM drives (it requires the XP CD)
In addition to these 2 pesky little problems, my comptuer is really slow. for example, if i pull up solitare and move it around the screen, it jumps around and moves really slowly. also, if i try to scroll in a document it is really jumpy/slow. I went into bios and changed my memory setting from auto to 333, b/c i thought it may be overclocking but that didn't help either. I'm really a newbie at this kind of stuff, but my friend who has lots of experience also totally confused.
Now, i can't access interent on my computer, so i'm up at my school right now doing research and trying to figure out whats wrong. Speedy responsed would help a ton b/c i'll probably leave in about an hour. If no one has any answers by then i'll check back in tomorrow and the day after, so forth. Hope you guys can help, this is really frustrating b/c i want to play Half life 2!
