Completed <100$ build

i5 4430 (free.99)
MSI B85M-P33 (free.99)
4gb + 2gb RAM (free.99)
PNY 660ti XLR8 Edition (free.99)
XFX Pro Series 450 Watt PSU (40$)
Some Random Case (free.99)
Ubuntu (free.99)
Yate Loon 120mm fan (free.99)
RMA of motherboard (30$)

The whole cost of this build was about 70$. Works like a charm.

Thanks to all those who helped me (with the freebies 😀 )

edit: OP delivers

Some connectors not plugged in since the wire isn't long enough and I don't really need them. the back 3 pin fan is stuck at 100% so I'll probably replace it with something quiet or if I could find a fan adapter converter thingy, like the Noctua one...

I won the Haswell combo from the Summer Giveaway done by nanaki (i5, mobo, ram)

I won the 660ti from another giveaway (along with WOW Pandaria or whatever collectors edition and a Nvidia backpack)

I traded the Nvidia backpack to Face2Face, since he's a fanboy for the case

Yate Loon was using a giftcard gifted to me during the holidays from someone on this forum.

I could build a mansion for <$100 if I won the lottery.
Lottery or not, how could you have someone or build it yourself for less than $100?
Even if you had 100% of the materials laying around, the permits would cost you more than $100.

Leh, you failed. If I typed >$100, you would be correct

Leh isnt good with math
I know, 300 FPS on CSS (everything maxed)

Im not following... my point was that paying for the house with lottery money doesn't count as paying for the house at all

<$100 means less than 100 dollars Leh. I think you mean >$100 which means more than 100

No, his point was that you can't call something a sub-$100 build just because you got a bunch of stuff for free. It's a ~$800 build that cost you less because you got lucky. Nothing wrong with being lucky, but it's not really reproducible.

Ah okay that makes sense.

Thanks for clarifying.

Yamamoto is not very good at reading comprehension. ;D

he must of gotten his reading glasses on sale too..

See yamamoto!! sometimes its worth paying retail!

(sarcasm)

lolol...
u mean... typically people do it the other way around... the bloat up price tag to extreme.. and then flaunt it only costed them that much....

I think Yamamoto is actually in denial it only came out to that much.
Actually i would be in denial too if i built a PC for less then 100 dollars.
(without tapping into my almost endless spare parts box... toys which turned into junk box)
As i said.. i burn 100 dollars in pc builds just on 1 part... 1 watercooling Part on top!

That case looks very familiar....? Looks like the side panel where the sticker was needs some goof off 😉 I see you also got rid of that horrid VGA retention bracket. I will keep an eye out for any ram. Sometimes Memory vendors send me some for free, which I then usually give away. I will look around and see if I have any.

HaHa - also noticed you put a piece of tape over that blinding HDD activity light - I did the same.

The case is okay, the side panel is kinda bent. The goof is hard, too lazy to take off. The VGA retention brackets where bad, it put a number of scratched onto the 660ti PCB, but it didn't damage anything vital. An 8gb stick would be awesome 😀

I also added a "Paid, thank you" sticker on the front because I found it lying around.

And I put ducttape over the LEDs because they are horribly bright.

All in all looks pretty dang good. Congrats
