LiBr + Hg2(NO3)2 -->

I thought it worked out to LiBr + Hg2 (NO3)2 --> Li(NO3)2 + BrHg2. But that doesn't work.

Well aren't you just the man. See you are doing something right now that I didn't do at all last term - homework. I attended most classes but struggled with consciousness. Maybe that's why my GPA was a 2.7. Maybe.

You'll have to forgive me if this is all wrong, it has been over 30 years since I took Chem. Isn't Li a +1; Br a -1; Hg a +2; NO3 a -2;, if so the proper equation would be -> Li2 (NO3) + Hg Br2. To Balance them, It would come out like this. 4Li Br + Hg2 (NO3)2 -> 2Li2 (NO3) + 2Hg Br2 I hope that this is right, or else I've really overtaxed my brain for nothing. It is really hard going back that far.

NO3 is -1.. But I was thinking of changing the subscripts.

BrHg2 does'nt exist but HgBr2 does

and Li(NO3)2 neither but Li(NO3) does.

BrHg2 does'nt exist but HgBr2 does

Sorry, Messed up the NO3 radical and that messed up the charge on the Hg. Of course that threw off everthing. With that correction that makes everything easy. I googled for Periodic table and found this When I clicked on Hg I found that Hg Br2 existed and Hg2 Br2 existed.
