It looks like a spyder style knock-off. I have no experience with this marker so I cannot comment on the quality. For a starter marker and set up it lloks like a good deal. The mask is about $30 and the tank is about $20.

For $40 its not bad considering what type of items you're getting. Personally speaking? IMO (coming from 11+ years of paintball and tournament play), you prolly should have gone with something a bit better in regards to quality. paintballgear.com usually has alot of closeout items for cheap. Plus, $30 for that mask? Definitely not. $20 for 9oz tank? No way.

I've found that more often than not you really get what you pay for, and some companies just don't offer good quality in their products. Viewloader is good at making hoppers...that's about all I would recommend buying from them. Not trying to rain on your parade, just giving my opion...pbnation.com forums is a good place to find people selling new/mint items for cheap too.

Was it a good deal? Yeah prolly, but if you end up finding you like the sport and staying with it, you'll find yourself looking at buying another marker for sure.

I don't know about best at all, I've only played a dozen times or so.

But - a Tippmann 98 is a good place to start. Not expensive, very reliable, plenty of modifications available if desired. I don't know the cost on it, likely well over $100. But I wouldn't recommend anything less than that, personally. Would be interested if others have opinions.

In regards to the deal itself. It now appears dead.

It all depends on what you are going to do with it:

Are you and your buddies going to go play in the woods behind his house? If you and some friends are just going to crawl around the woods then this was a decent deal for a starter package. Just know this isn't a marker that will last you 5 years.

Are you going to a paintball field and want to avoid rental fees? --- If yes, this is a poor choice. You won't last more then an outing or two before you want to upgrade ... and here's the key. Paintball isn't a cheap sport in the long run

There will be some debate to this for sure but do more research on the following markers/guns and you will learn about good low cost new markers. I'm not unnecessarily suggesting these ... just do some research on them and you'll understand.
- Tippmann: A-5
- Smart Parts: Ion
- Proto Rail (aka PMR)

Yes if you want to play in a field, make sure you have some quality gear. i have a spyder compact 2000.. and it was not cheap, but it is not exactly a straight shooter. I guess I need to get the barrel filed smooth or something.. don't care enough though :p

Man, too bad I missed it. I don't play at actual arenas, or anywhere other than my backyard, so this would have been perfect! O well, it'l probably come back around at some point.
