Ok a little summary:

Ive been through 2 hard drives since february of this year...both(this morning the second one now) resulted from issues with power...on this second one i went out bought a new hard drive and a backup battery with surge protection to prevent this from happening in the future....ha! So this morning my computer shut off on me twice, this time the second time was the charm and it loaded up like the other one did..it would go through the load up process then get to the windows xp black loadup screen with the windows xp logo and the loading bar..then it would blink and show a blue screen with a bunch of words on there but not nearly enough to be able to see how many lines are on there. Now, i cant even load it up into windows...i have now 3 hard drives with this issue...and I dont know what else to do. I am reformatting completely and reinstalling windows COMPLETELY, the thing is if i restart my computer when i load up windows on there it probably will not load back up again. I am confused and I dont know what else to come up with and how to fix this issue...spec:

ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Socket 478 Intel 875P ATX Intel Motherboard
2gigs of ram
intel p4 ht 2.8ghz
ati x850 pro 256mb
xconnect psu module

i hope thats enough and i hope some of you gurus out there can help me. A friend of mine suggested getting a new motherboard as a chipset might be out?

Your friend is crazy.

You should be blaming the crappy power supply at the heart of your system. Seems weird that you did the whole backup battery/surge protection thing but didn't get a higher quality power supply.

Do you get BIOS info on bootup?

Are you saying you can reformat the HD's and they'll work again? If that's the case you may not the all the Drivers for your Chipset/Motherboard installed.

You may also want to double check your BIOS settings to make sure they're set up correctly. At one time, OCing could cause corruption of SATA drives, I'm not sure if that could be an issue here though.

Incorrect strapping could also be a remote possibility.

the crappy power supply...i cant complain the power supply was REALLY good to me, until now ofcourse as i dont know what the issue is. But yeah i like said..thoe whole backup battery/surge protecion thing is weird but im still at a loss....

but about wanderer27..yes im saying i CAN reformat the hard drive with a new installation of windows, and self explanaotry when the issue occured here is the problem:

-black screen windows logo startup window appears(lamens term(sp?) )
-Screeen flashes black then appears blue like Blue screen of death then shows a couple lines not readable by the human eye then disappears like a system restart...basically error reports but not readable. What do you mean by double check bios settings? I am at a loss completely...let me make it clear:

---->I do not OC this card/motherboard/etc....i keep it completely stock!

i just did 3-4 hard restarts on the comp @ 3:30am - 3:45am and the computer seems to load up through windows fine, now if i were to download some updates i have a feeling i wont be able to load windows up completely...does this sound weird to anyone? I think this would be a good trouble shooting thread for any of those newbies having this issue in their beginning stages as this is providing me hellish feedback(not from you users! i thank all of you!!!) but from those whom have similar issues, please make this a sticky if this proves help to many...thank you, sorry to sound like a nub-cake just trying to help the comm. out

I still think you should shell out some cash for another power supply. The x-connect series is not known for quality. Try something from Enermax, Seasonic, FSP, Sparkle, or maybe even an OCZ would work. In fact, there is a deal for the 520W Corsair PS in Hot Deals that might be worth looking at.

$80 shipped with google checkout-20 MIR = one hell of a $60 power supply.

damn...60$???? thats pretty cheap, i liked the x-connect because of the module stuff...and to be honest ive had NO issues with it, but i really dont know if my issue was contributed by the power supply or if it was something else, like i said...im pretty stumped on this
