Complete build... Need some opinions

I would recommend the AMD setup you have picked out with a few caveats:
Firstly, if you haven't noticed, intel's Core 2 Duo comes out late July (maybe August for us consumers) and will be the better build for your money. Also, any reason you're not going AM2?

If you can't wait, then read on:
Avoid the rosewill PSU like the plague.
The silverstone might be fine - it's expensive enough, but I haven't really heard much about it and reflexively recommend either Fortron or Seasonic for your build.

You seem to be building a gaming rig, in which case you will want 2x1GB of memory. You can get the 2x1GB 2-3-2-5 patriot kit for $120 after rebate, and the corsair for a little more. On your AMD build you have 4x512 picked out, and that's a bad idea. You get better performance for less money with the 2x1GB sticks I mentioned.

I'm not sure whether to recommend the 1800 or the 7900GT for a video card solution - from what people say the performance is dictated by whichever game you're playing. They're about equal from what I can tell. Maybe spend $40 less on the 7900GT and use it towards another component.

For a sound card most people recommend spending the extra 30-40 for the X-Fi Xtrememusic. I have never owned an audigy 2zs but I do have the x-fi and I love it.

For a motherboard that ASUS looks fine. I have owned asus in the past and have been pleased.

For the processor that 3800+ venice looks fine, but it's out of stock. The 3500+ is a perfectly good alternative for a few bucks cheaper, and will overclock to 2.4, 2.6 and beyond without much trouble. If you have no desire to OC you might consider looking elsewhere for a 3800+ venice.
 
AMD RIG:

- Great case
- I dunno, Graphics card is good, but I always perfer Nvidia
- Get a better brand PSU (Seasonic, Antec are good)
- 1GB is basically standard. You may want to upgrade to 2GB

INTEL RIG:

- Looks pretty good, I've heard both good and band things about the PSU.

I see the AM2, but I am reading that there is really no use in its added price... I guess it would be more future proof???

Also I can wait till then... but will the Core duo really fit into the price range??? or will it bump down say the 4400 AMD AM2 to my price??? I have $1100 in cash sitting around ($50 of it is Best Buy Gift card) and I want to do this sometime in the next 3 months, so do I start finding the Case and other things now on super sales??? and wait???

Both. The core 2 duo is supposed to be very price competitive with the current amd offerings, with up to 30% increased performance in some apps. There is some prelim data on pricing available if you search for it. But what's also appealing is that the AM2 prices are supposed to drop dramatically, up to 50% on some processors, and those will be much more affordable. The X2 3800+ could be down to $150 for instance, with great discounts on other chips (like the 4400) as well.

If you were to wait those three months then from all indications you'll be much happier with the finished product, whichever direction you decide to go.

So I guess I start looking for a good price on a case and a power supply as those will not change much.

Anyone seen the Lian Li cheaper than $89 bucks and a good non-SLi power supply on sale maybe around 80 bucks for around 500w

Not seeing too much else at the moment. Folks around here seem to like the PSU I listed though.

Why 3800+ I don't agree with that. I say pick the 3700+ if you really want single core. Save alittle, get the extra L2 cache, and if you OC, both chips will be clocked at the same level pretty much so the L2 cache kicks in. Sure it's a small boost, but when you OC, stock speeds basicallydon't matter (case in point Opty 165 vs Opty 170).

I highly recommend dual core if you're going with this system (look into Opteron 165), but even more highly recommended is taht you WAIT for AM2 or better yet go with Conroe.

I don't get why people are posting all these new rig threads when new stuff is right around the corner?

Even if you want to go cheap, I have to include this link to a better choice. I can't see why those who spend a lot on the other expensive components of their gaming rig will always buy cheaper PSUs and then log on to AT when problems arise on their systems.
