Compiz Fusion

I have recently installed Compiz Fusion for Mandriva 2008. I enabled the 3D Desktop effects and most of the eye candy works great. I can initiate the cube, along with wobbly windows, etc. However, when I try to enable some of the effects such as Cube Reflection, 3D Windows and things of that that nature, they don't take.

I check the box next to the option I want and it will automatically un-check itself within seconds. I'm fairly new to Beryl/Compiz Fusion so I don't know all there is to know but I got the basics down. If anyone can direct me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance!

I'm rather new to linux, but I experience somthing similar, but a lot of the really good eye candy IE what you're trying to enable requires really good video drivers.I was using the 8600M GS and I had to DL and install nvidias drivers before I was able to enable those effects. I could be wrong but that was my experience with it.

Hope I helped.

Edit: What I mean by really good drivers is somethingother than the default linux drivers. Probably safe to say you have already done this, but its the only thing I can think of. If nothing else it servers as a bump.

I'm not at all familiar with Mandriva, but I do know these are all plug-in based. Many of these effects are stable, and just as many aren't (or just haven't seen much testing time). It's very possible that you need to install another package that provides all the less-than-proven effect plug-ins. I would search for "compiz" in Mandriva's package manager and look through the list for something along the lines of compiz-fusion-extras or whatever.
