I just installed fedora 64bit and a couple of my hardware device are not working (audigy 2 and wintv pvr 150). Is there any reason i can't just go to kernel.org and download and compile the latest 32bit kernel?

sorry i can't answer your question but if you find an answer let me know. i think i'll be in the same boat. i downloaded fedora core 4 (64 bit version), and i will want to use my hauppauge wintv pvr-150.

you would be better off just downloading and installing fedora core x86 instead of x86_64. It will work fine on your AMD64. If you try to compile a 32bit kernel, you will need to recompile every module and library on the system (as they are all 64bit)

the hauppauge pvr 150 is a pretty popular video capture card no? what are the odds of finding drivers for it for the x86_64

If your userland is 64-bit, a 32-bit kernel won't work. If your userland is 32-bit a 64-bit kernel will work fine.

Surely those drivers are 64-bit safe. Just compile them; I'm sure there are some source RPMs out there for them, or something.

The drivers for the PVR-150 use a firmware that will most likely NOT work in a 64-bit driver.
