CompGeeks USB hub - did you get right AC adapt?

Don't lock me dang it.. for those who ordered, did you get the right AC power supply? I sure as hell didn't, and I got 4 (for friends). Gunna contact Compgeeks, but just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Two of my three orders from them had major problems that required *way* too many phone calls to fix. The third order had a minor problem that I just didn't feel like complaining to them about. They end up doing the right thing, but they don't make it easy to get to that point.

I probably shouldn't order from them anymore, but I'm sure I'll get suckered in by a low price again. *sigh*

its' the right voltage.. but the adapter ain't right. Damn it, if i'm the only one, they will take a long time.. grrr. if more ppl had this problem.. they'd act faster i would assume...

Same adapter here, 6V 2100 MA. Now its got me wondering which is right and if I should even try and hook the thing up.

I got the wrong power supply too, wrong connector. The csr at compgeeks is sending the correct one, and wants me to send the one I have back, because they need it for another usb hub they are selling.

The CSR said he would be sending a ups shipping label for the old (wrong) power supply along with the new one.

Mine says 7.5v 2100mA. Matches with the info on the port.
Question, why do you need the adapter. Won't everything run off of the root port power? I'm not even using my adapter.

what to do:

you can call 760-734-XXXX and talk to a technical service (I got transfered..) SUCKS, no 1-800, use work phone...
or you can call 760-734-3681 and talk to a nice air head girl who say to spam compgeeks until you get a respone (seriously thats what Rebecca (switchboard girl) said) lol she was nice too...
or you can call 760-734-3808 and talk to a customer service personal and they don't know Sh*t about what to do. But she was a nice person...

tell them you got the wrong AC adapter, connector wont fit.

he/she will give RMA #, put on photocopy of your invoice.

You will recieve another package from them with shipping label inside,

take the correct ac adapters, return wrong ones + photocopy of invoice + RMA #

Slap on included shipping label,

Kick it as far as you can from the post office (may give it a head start in shipping)

thats it... little hassle, but don't have to pay shipping... (phone charge not included)

I got 5 of those... ALL 5 were wrong ac adapters.... such a mess...

I think the power for the Belkins are 5 volts (says on back) 5-7 volts should be safe... I used my scanner adapter (16 V 500ma) worked ok too... after 5 min I decided to unpower it, the hub started to smoke and warmed up the room nicely... (that one's goin to flea bay!)

the part that really matter is the mA needs 500mA(standard) for each port = 2000mA total, little extra wont hurt... too much (16V) and it becomes a heater...

freekin power supplies are hella bulky... they take over 3 outlets


I still didn't get the replacements yet.... It better not be the same WRONG ones... or I'll really be PISSED....

I have to use an adapter if I connect my webcam to the hub (not from compgeeks). Otherwise, the overcurrent light on my hub will on and even Windows will tell there is not enough power for my webcam.

Was Compgeeks selling different hubs? Mine was retail-boxed,
and appeared to be straight from the Belkin factory. The AC adapter
was the right one.

For applications such as this, any voltage from 5 to 12 should
work fine. Just be certain that you have the polarity correct,
as backwards biasing could cause serious damage.
