Doesn't the coupon make it 139?

If you talking about the 10% off coupons...they don't pertain to compgeek specials...which this deal is...NICE DEAL never the less....

I donno, he posted some coupon from the geek's e-mail.

Add the MSI GeForce4 Ti4600 Video Card to your shopping cart and enter the Secret Savings(GEEKMSIG4) in the red "promotional code" field during checkout

Wait to buy the ATI 9700 Pro. I'm sure for 1XX more ... yeah it will be worth it when trying to run Unreal 2K and any new games comming up.

IMO this deal BLOWS. Unless you want to pay 160 bucks + shipping for an OLD SLOW card.

I'm thinking that with the new 9800Pro the 9700 should drop another 50 bucks or so. This would be a hot deal for 60 - 80 bucks for a refurb card.

I hardly think this is a slow card...maybe old but not slow...and I dont know what ur talking about...but 9700pros are still around $300 dollars...for price/performance...this is a good deal

While it's true that ATI video Pixel Shaders can cause some isues in some games. I've played almost every 1'st person shooter with my 9700Pro with NO PROBLEMS! Tho, I put together my own machine. Enermax Power Supply on a Soyo Ultra / AMD 2100+ with Kingston 333RAM. Maybe the drivers have don't work too good on machines with generic ram etc...etc... ???

But, If I were gonna go back to nvidia, I'd get the geforce FX 5200 Ultra for 99 bucks. It will at least run UT2K at 27 FPS. Did the Quake III demo @ 71 FPS. But compaired to a 9700Pro UTK2 @ 70FPS, and Quake3 MPC Demo 136FPS... Dunno, you do the math.

I have to agree that the TI4600 was an excellent card in it's day. That being said I love my 9700PRO it has not failed me on the rock solid drivers or failed in perfromance in any way. $300.00 well spent. Even tho, I got it 4 months ago from a friend that won the card at a quake turnament. But you can still get the card brand new shipped from crucial for 339 bucks. While that is twice as much cash as the TI4600. IT WILL PLAY DOOM 3...

I dunno... Running UT2K @ 1280x1024 your TI4600 is bearly going to pull off 21FPS! Yet at the same rate a 9700Pro is going to pull in 64FPS. That's what I play mine at with all the features turned on. I'd be bummed if I had this card. It's slow.... Sorry, the question was "I just want to know two things will this card let me play Doom 3 and Half-Life 2? or should I just wait and buy a better card? " So I answered it. I don't want to misinform anyone to buy this card to play today?s games at pathetic frame rates. I doubt this card will even run doom3. IT probably will with all the features that make the game look good "eye candy" turned off. Who wants to do that? I am pretty confident that my 9700Pro will have no problems playing it. Though, I'm really impressed with UT2K. The levels and details are awesome.

i disagree, this will run doom 3 at low settings. not even 9700 for doom 3 eh? so ID is gonna release a game that only people with 5900 ultra's and 9800's can play? they wont make much money that way.

if u mean its ability to play doom 3 my 8500 will play doom 3 demo... at 5fps too. Maybe I have different need for video cards than most people will reason in here. I need it to run the games I usually play well at 1240x1028(which will be wc3, battlefield and HL), or run the game as soon as i can get.
the 8500 i have could not run Soldier of Fortune 2 and nfshp2 on the first day they releases (probably not in the first week for nfs's case), and it have problem running ragnarok online and the problem isn't solved until now. Consider i waited to play those games and brought them off the shelves in first day, it pisses me off big time. i m not so sure if running UT2K at 70FPS is still a standard today, but UT2K3 should be definately playable with the 4600, even though im not getting into that endless brain-dead style fragging.

I curious as to where u get ur frame rates from....UT2k is a great looking game but I don't think its that graphically intensive as say Unreal II. and I play that with my GF3 TI500 at 1280x1024 high detail no prob. Can you link me to the site thats shows the TI4600 @ 21fps. Im not saying ur wrong...but I curious to see if this is true...

Compgeeks has 500 of these cards in stock. That's a lot. Did this card have a lot of problems?

No. It's just that Ti4200 is easily overclockable to Ti4600 speeds and costs a lot less so most people buy Ti4200 if they can find them under $100 if not they tend to buy Radeons under $200 since 9500 pro 9600 pro 9700 are all rated higher than Ti4600.

Well, since my TI4200 will play UT3 at those settings at faster then 21fps, I guess a 4600 will do even better. This isn't a slow card imho......

Hey the TI4600 still does great in non-antilaising tests. It beats out most of the midrange cards (9500, 9600, gf5600) or comes close. When Dx9 titles start appearing, things will probably change.

But these are factory refurbs meaning someone most likely bought these and returned them due to problems. It looks like Compgeeks bought MSI's RMAs.

For someone who takled about frame rate 21fps in UT2k3. I've benchmark the UT2k3 with my non-overclocked MSI GF4 Ti4600 on a stock speed P4 2.4 with SOYO KT333 Ultra: 46 fps. Maybe your frame rate is with FSAA and everything else turned on to the max but for me it's OK 'cause at the speed of the game I've played at 1280 x 1024 resolution, I hardly care about FSAA and other graphics niceties. I won't be able to notice the image quality differences of FSAA and other niceties anyhow. Just me 2cents...

I own a ATI 9700 card, but wish I had gotten a 4600 instead. The ATI cards have too many compatibility problems that never get fixed. The only real advantage the ATI cards have is being faster with the antialiasing which isn't a big deal to me. Read the forums on rage3d.com to see what I am talking about.
