Competitive Eating, these guys take their sport seriously.

INHD has been showing several contests that are IFOCE(International Federation of Competive Eating) run... several of the eaters seem to win consistantly. Many compete in lots of events and seem to really take their sport seriously.

Has anyone else seen some of these eating conests on INHD?

Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs have had an eating contest on the 4th of July since the early 1900s. The World record holder at 53.5 hot dogs in 12 minutes.

You might think just fat guys win, actually its seems the smaller in shape contestants win most of the contests.

Here are the rankings of the top eaters in the world..check out the contests they have won....

here are some records...

I wonder about the safety of this kind of thing ..I guess they do have some safety standards in place...
"Safety Standards

Safety is the first consideration in any sport, and the IFOCE insists that all sanctioned competitive eating matches take place in a controlled environment with the proper safety measures in place.

The IFOCE will not sanction or promote any events that do not adhere to the highest safety regulations. The IFOCE believes that speed eating is only suitable for those 18 years of age or older and only in a controlled environment with appropriate rules and with an emergency medical technician present.

The IFOCE is against at-home training of any kind. The IFOCE strongly discourages younger individuals from eating for speed or quantity under any circumstances. The IFOCE urges all interested parties to become involved in sanctioned events -- do not try speed eating home."

Yeah they dont call this guy the Tsunami for nothing. He is insane, I saw a show on tv about competitive eating and they followed him around for his training. He has some condition where his stomach sits lower than normal allowing it to expand more (or something like that.)
