Trying to determine if my CPU or MOBO is bad... are these 2 interchangeable ?

CPU: AMD T-bird 1.0GHz on MOBO: ASUS A7V (working)
CPU: AMD Barton 2800+ on MOBO: Abit NF7-S (suddenly not working)

Can the 1.0GHz work on the Abit and can the Barton work on the ASUS ? They are both socket 452.

Basically I'm getting NO POST with the Barton + Abit (the original problem leading me to do a test) so I tried the Barton in the ASUS (NO POST) and also tried the T-bird in the Abit (NO POST). Both the Barton and Abit being busted at the same time is really uncanny.

So if the 1.0GHz isn't POSTing on the Abit (with practically nothing else plugged in), it's safe to say that it's the MOBO that's dead ?

Also, is it normal to get NO POST if the Barton isn't supposed to work on the ASUS ?

Yes, and yes

the highest the Asus will support is a 2600, and thats only if its a rev2 board and has the latest bios flashed. It won't support the 2800
