Compatibility Question...

I'm an old fashion gamer hoping to expand his knowledge a little bit and get into Star Wars Galaxies. To do so I had to upgrade my video card and I have been able to get a great deal on a Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb.

Looking at the box for Galaxies it lists the 9500 and 9700, but not the 9600. I was wondering if anyone out there has played Galaxies with a 9600 and if so what the gameplay was like. Otr if anyone would happen to know if this card will work.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -BA

I'm running XP
1.7 ghz Pentium 4
256k Ram
Thats about all I know about it to be honest, I'm just starting to learn the nuts and bolts. Thanks. -BA

You should have no problems running the 9600 in that machine.

Just a note, i pressume you have 256mb of memory not 256k 😉

The limiting factor for gaming will most likely be the amount of memory you have.

If your going to spend money on your graphics card to play games, I would suggest at least 512mb of RAM.

There are more technical issues in regards to performance, such as the core of your processor etc, but I wont go into that.

Your star wars games and such should have no problems whatsoever running with that graphics card in that machine however.

If you want anymore info just say 😉

256mb is correct, I am a total rookie. I am looking at upgrading my RAM to 512 in the next couple weeks, I really want to get up and running first. Thanks for your assiatnce, its good to know theres a place like this to go and talk to people who know what they're doing. thanks again .-BA
