I recently ordered an enclosure and a hard drive of of tiger direct (here) and today I came across this.

Would the maxtor from futureshop be compatible with the enclosure that I ordered from tiger? If so i was thinking of picking up like 2 of the ones from futureshop (which leads to my next question)

Once I swap the drives out can I just keep the one thats not being used in my closet etc. or does it have to be in an enclosure/similar storage thinger forever?

ps. all prices are $CDN.

A little confused here, you want to buy the enclouser that comes with Seagate drives, and replace them with Maxtors? My .02 cents, the Ultra enclousers come with not only bigger, but in my opinion much better drives, I'd take Seagate over Maxtor all day. If you have an absolute reason why you want to swap the drives, as long as the one your putting in is a ATA and not SATA you'll be fine. and the ones currently in the enclouser can be used as a regular HD outside of it no problem.

Guess I was a bit fuzzy on the details.
For 9 out of the 12 months I only have access to my laptop so storage is a big problem. My intention was to swap out the drives once they're full, not to replace the one that came with the enclosure :p

Once i swap out a drive could I just leave it lying..naked if you may, on my desk? Would I have to put it in a special container or would a simple box suffice?

Thanks for your info on my compatiblity question btw :)
