Hello, I am considering to build a high-end Threadripper system. I plan to use the ASUS ROS Zenith Extreme. My question is whether or not the G.Skill Trident Z RBG DDR4-3200C14 64GB (16GBx4) Kit is compatible with this motherboard. This RAM Kit is not listed in the Asus' motherboard QVL and the ASUS Zenith Extreme is also not used in the G.Skill QVL. On the G.Skill website, one could choose between Trident Z RGB Theadripper version or standard version. Is this just a marketing trick? Do standard version work as well? The RAM under the Threadripper version is slower.

I see you didn't take my advice in your other thread about posting so many different threads on each component (and recommending you create a single one in general hardware).

If you continue to do so, most users here will get "post fatigue", and will begin to skip over your various threads (like your latest motherboard and cooling one). Also, you are pretty much asking the same exact question you did in your other thread in the memory forum (which was answered). If the RAM is not on the motherboard's QVL list, or certified by the manufacturer to work with the motherboard you picked out, it is a roll of the dice on your part. It might work fine, and it might not. If you are unsure, send an email to G Skill's support department, and ask them if the kit you selected will work.

So I'll suggest one last time that you create a single thread, and ask all of your questions in there.
Finally, now that you have now moved from building an Intel system to a Threadripper one, I recommend you read through the official builder's thread as you are likely to find the answers to RAM, motherboard, and cooling in there.

Thanks for the advice. Actually I listened to your advice and posted in the general hardware forum. Then, somebody replied suggesting me to post on specific forum rather than on a general forum.

Actually how this forum works? I think some specialists in memory may check only the memory forum. They may not read the posts in other forums. Some specialists in GPU may check only the GPU forum. If I post in the general forum, will they also see it?

Sorry for not knowing how the forum here works.

Most people who help users with "build my PC" type posts frequent all areas. Most of the individual sub-forums are where people who want discuss components/technology in a more technical way. The problem with how you are doing it is you posted a thread in general hardware, but then posted individual threads in the various forums. It duplicates everything, and has everything so spread out.

Just put your projected PC build list in your general hardware thread, and update it as you change your mind / get advice, so that way it is all in one place. You can always edit your projected build in your original post. Many of the "old timers" like myself see your username in all the various forums, and scroll right by them because with so many threads to read/sort through, it gets a little confusing and creates more work for us. And since the people here are helping you for free, you want to make it as simple and streamlined as possible.

Thank you. Sorry for the troubles caused. I will create a thread in the general hardware forum and ask all my questions there. I apologize once again.

Another thing I forgot to add about the benefits of having one thread where all your component questions / projected build list are located is when you signed up here, you were building a HEDT PC with Intel components, and now it has become a Threadripper build. I have no idea how you went from build A to build B. It's not that the new build is worse or anything, I just don't know all the relevant info.

Since I was writing this, you posted. Glad to hear you are going the one thread route. If anyone comes into that thread and tells you to create individual threads again, tell them "Usandthem told them to hush it". ;)
