Compatability question on 6700k and DDR3

So I have 16 gig of good ddr3 sitting around, and don't want to waste it. I found this
ASUS B150-PLUS D3 motherboard for socket 1151 and it says it uses DDR3/DDR3L.

So first question is am I right that this will work fine with the I7-6700K and DDR3 ? (specifically Corsair 1600 1.5v)

Second, what are the disadvantages of this vs DDR4 ? And how much slower. A couple percent does not worry mem but to save myself $100 or close to it, I can spare a tiny bit of performance.

The impact greatly varies depending on your usage.

IIRC, DDR4 faster than 2133 is where you start to see nice benefits for DDR4 over DDR3.

I think DDR4-2133 is roughly the same speed as DDR3-1600.

I personally would not use DDR3-1600 with a 6700K.

OK one more question. So why is that ASUS motherboard only $92 ? I can't find anything bad about it.

And why NOT use DDR3 with a 6700 ??

To me, using ddr3-1600 is holding Skylake back.

That may be part of the reason the board is relatively cheap.

It also doesn't have a lot of features, and it has relatively low end audio.

None of that may matter to you, though.

Its going to be a folding and Pinnacle studio machine. Folding sure does not need audio, and the horsepower of the 6700 at stock should be fine. I upgraded to
ASUS B150 PRO GAMING D3
and Ordered. I got this since the power delivery appeared to be better. (the bigger caps and big heatsinks)

The thing is that Intel doesn't officially support DDR3, only DDR3L or DDR4. It should still work but I imagine it'd have to overvolt the memory controller?

Yep, no official DDR3 support; DDR3L or DDR4 only.

It will probably "work", but are they willing to warranty your processor, if it burns out the memory controller in five years, running over-volted?

I'm not saying it will have a problem, but just pointing out that whatever long-term effects that has, that Asus is unlikely to stand behind it.
