Hi guys, my name is Aaron. I'm really interested in building my own pc. I managed to save up $800 over the past couple months, and I gathered up all the parts I need to build this bad boy. My question is, will the following parts all be suitable for the pc i want to build. Thanks in advance.

Custom PC

Are you planning to overclock? What will the main purpose be for this PC? (gaming, media editing, etc.)

Thanks for the replys. I'll probably overclock once I learn more about it, I don't know anything about it at this moment. But, I hope to use this computer as a gaming PC...what would you recommend in terms of parts. Am I set to go? or should I get other things. Thanks

dude, geforce fx cards aren't good anymore, those are the geforce 5 series. the geforce 8 series has been out since last year.

i have one of those cases, and it's quite a pleasure to work with, although it has a couple of annoyances, but many more positives than negatives.

that motherboard is uh, expensive. why are you getting an sli motherboard to use with a video card that came out before sli? oh, and if you still want to use that card (wouldn't recommend for a gaming rig, i had a radeon 9800, which was on par with the higher end gf fx cards, and have upgraded like 3 or 4 times since; today's low-end budget cards are faster), make sure it's not agp. ***READ MY EDIT AT THE END OF THIS POST***

as for the processor, why not spend a couple more bucks for the e6320? seriously its like $1 more expensive and has twice the l2 cache.

that's a decent psu, but i dunno if i'd trust it in a high powered rig. personally i would look elsewhere.

if you can, you might as well just get the tuniq tower man, its like $15 more than that heatsink, but i seriously think you should get a cheaper p35 motherboard and use some of the extra $ on a tuniq tower.

as for ram, you don't really need 4gb of ram dude, unless you're running vista, but if you're running xp it will mainly just hold back your overclock.

that's a good hard drive and the only suggestion i could make is getting a bigger size since they're probably cheaper per gigabyte, but if 320gb is enough for you then by all means get that drive. i love the 7200.10 series.

EDIT: for video card, if you can use your fx in there, you may actually want to hold on to that and wait for a card refresh, which should be sometime later this year (geforce 9). they'll be much more powerful than anything there is today, and for a much better price, so the best course of action would be to keep using your fx as you originally planned and then upgrading to a gf9 when they come out.

also if you don't plan on overclocking for awhile then you may just want to hold off on the aftermarket heatsink, as the stock one will be more than sufficient at stock speeds. plus you'll still be able to overclock pretty well with it, who knows you might be happy with the oc'ed performance using the stock cooler, that'll save you $.

so:

-same case
-different psu
-E6320 (or E6420 if you can shell out the extra $20)
-"only" 2GB RAM, you can always add more later
-P35 motherboard
-tuniq tower (later, not now)
-same hard drive
-same video card, but upgrade to geforce 9 later.

Okay, how does this look, the only thing I'm missing is the motherboard, I was hoping you would recommend one for me out of all the p35 models. As for the PSU, im open for suggestions, im still not sure which to get aswell. Ram will be chosen when motherboard is...once again thanks guys
