So the compass in my 05 Impreza WRX is off a bit after replacing my battery. It says NE when heading dead E, etc. It is in the powered mirror assembly.

Is there any way to recalibrate this?

Yes. Not sure what the procedure in your car is. Check your owner's manual first. Then call the dealership and ask if it's not in there.
 
I've read that driving around in a tight circle a few times will recalibrate the compass.
