Hi all,
I noticed that some of the more recommended cases were the slk 3000b and kingwin kt 424.
I just wanted to know what you guys thought about which was better, in terms of cooling, silence, easy to work with, and looks.

kt 424

slk 3000b

some major things: Kingwin has 3 80mm fans, antec has 1 120mm
Antec is steel, kingwin is aluminum
Kingwin has a window, antec dosn't
Antec is about 47shipped at amazon, kinwin is 89shipped at zzf

Thanks in advance

The Antec with the side vent...CPU duct...Provisions for another 120m/m fan up front...Rubber mounting for drives is certainly a more up to date case design versus the Kingwin.

I dont think there is any question that the thermal performance of the Antec will be better than the Kingwin.

I have never messed with Kingwin cases...I always opt for Lian-Li's

Here is a link to a Lian-Li that has 2 120m/m fans...80m/m blow hole provision (fan not included)...Aluminum construction and window...Effective fliter...My favorite case right now.

Kingwin has all the features of the Antec except for the 120m F/R fan mounts - but the Kingwin is made of Al which is easy to cut ;) ... Plus you get slide out mobo tray and fan controller. The 3000-B is a GREAT VALUE (can't get much better for under $50.) while the Kingwin/Beantech is simply GREAT! So now it's down to DOOR vs. No DOOR... ;)

Thanks for all the replys guys!

I know the lian lis are the best, but I dont really want to pay the price. People have told me that the kingwin is like a lian li and good quality, just cheaper.
The window in the kingwin is nice, and if I got the antec, I would probably put a window in it (kits about $20). That would bring the total to around 70.
I know the antec would probably be cooler and quiter with those 2 120's :)
I won't be moving around alot, so i dont think aluminum would be too much of an advantage ( or would it? )

The Kingwin is 2mm Aluminum - not any lighter than the 3000-B - probably heavier. If you want light aluminum check out the Aspire X-Sonic (only 0.8mm metal!).

The reviews on newegg said that the x sonic was kinda flimsy. The look isnt very appealing to me either ( i prefer more of a plain look w/ a window)For me, weight isnt that much of a factor because I won't really be moving it.
Oh, yeah, if there are other cases that you think are good aside from the two i mentioned, please mention them.

I like the Silverstone Berserker (my review of it here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ ). And the Evercase 42x2 series (I consider the 42x2 equal to the Antec 3x00 series) which make up the heart of the Asus Vento - silentpcreview.com likes them too. The new Athenatech A600 series is nice.

Looks like most people think the Antec 3000b is better. Is there something like that w/ a window?
Does any one think the kingwin is better?

The 3000-B is a better value NOT a better case. Comprende the difference? Coolcases.com mods the Compucase 6A19 which is nearly identical to the 3000-B except for the front bezel so they should be able to mod your 3000-B door for you if you want a window. Antec apparently doesn't do a windowed door for that case.

Thanks, zepper for your consistant helping me.
Coolcases does mod that, but after the mods it is around the cost of a lian li 7b plus, so i'll be passing that.
Yeah, I know that the kingwin is the better case, and the antec is the better value, but I don't know if the kingwin is worth the extra $40. What do you guys think?

The silverstone looks pretty good, but wont the 2 60mm fans and 1 80mm fan be really loud?

Two words: Yate Loon.
(That's a no, by the way)

They have one of the best Noise:CFM ratio - so you should be good.

Sry, yeah didn't notice te yate loon fan part. So now i know its quiet, how about airflow?
I like it alot, with the looks and everything, but it actually goes over my budget a little(104 shipped instead of the kinwin is 90) In that price range I could almost go lian li.
Gonna do some reasearch about that silverstone.

"The silverstone looks pretty good, but wont the 2 60mm fans and 1 80mm fan be really loud?"

Depends of the fans...But thermal performance cannot be good with that setup.

In my humble opinion of course.
