I'm not a Blackberry hater but the Storm and Storm 2 are nothing special. When you compare them to iPhones and most Android phones they are even less impressive.

RIM was doing just fine with their pearls and standard blackberry's. They really didnt need large screen multimedia touch phones.

I'm not really a hater, it's just that there is such a disparity in the experience of using a traditional BB VS an iPhone or Droid, it's ridiculous.

RIMM knows what it takes to make a popular consumer phone, they're just having problems making something that can compare to a Droid or an iPhone.

Had there never been an iPhone, there would never have been a Storm or a Storm 2, or an Android phone for that matter. Competition is a great thing, and we all benefit. I dare say in another year, the market will be radically different, there are a hell of a lot of touchscreen phones out now, and they just keep getting better.

Ok, I'll chime in. Are they both loading the page via WiFi? Both on the same network if not? Has the BB animation value been set to 0 (it loads animated GIFs, the iPhone does not cutting data and load time)?

That video is hardly a good comparison for those reasons, but I'll freely admit the BB browser way outgunned by most other major platforms. That is why RIM recently bought Torch Mobile.

also, blackberries have Opera AND Bolt. do that contest with the new opera and it will seem much more of a fight.

I have a storm 1, had it since it launched. yea... there are some annoying things with it, but there are annoying things on every phone, including the magical iphone

This is why I'm looking to get either a Droid or possibly a dragon/passion or whatever it is rumored to be.

I love my Tour, but the browser blows. Bolt is a lot better than the standard, but still not quite fast enough.

I do love BB's though in every other aspect. Once RIM gets the browser down it will be a much different story.

There's a reason there are 3rd party browsers for the BBs. The built in browser sucks ass.

This is why the likes of the Tour, Bold I and II are my favorite BB's. Of course, the Storm's are better at the web then the traditional BB due to a wider landscape and scrolling abilities...but the non-apologetic approach with the QWERTY BB's make it a better device.

BB's have always sucked for browsing. The only 2 good browsers are on the Pre and iPhone. Even Android is slow when you've browsed on those 2 phones.

Bold 2??? Never heard it comes out yet or am I miss something? Anyway Safari is farily good for browsing there is no another alternate browser for iPhone.

I disagree, most of the people I know who have a Blackberry have one because their work gave it to them. The rest are either on Verizons network and want something better than an LG Dare or whatever touch screen only phone Samsung has. Or have one because it was free, or very very cheap. The Storm is only popular with consumers on a network that doesn't have iPhones. You'll never seen that phone on AT&T because nobody would buy it. And the Moto Droid should pretty much make the Storm 2 a WTF phone choice now.

Bold 9700, AKA "Bold 2". I have one but haven't switched from my Storm1 yet.

The 9700 has everything. GPS, WiFi, 3G, etc. The Tour is CDMA, the Bold 1/2 is GSM/UMTS.

That's a really dumb assumption.

It's not an assumption, BB's do well mostly due to companies that give them to all their employees. No more of an assumption than saying mostly construction workers use nextel. Verizon practically gives BB's away and will often times run specials where you can get one for $50 and a 2nd for free. Blackberries aren't overly popular, people get them because A. their company gives them to them and B. Because they're free real cheap. I'm sure a ton of people want them and buy them, but they're not the majority. The fact a lot of people have them doesn't = popularity. How many people would pay $300 for one? I'll answer that, next to nobody.

Pretty clueless, so I won't even start to pick it apart bit by bit. It would be easy, but I have better things to do, like watch paint dry.

I actually prefer the Pre browser to the iPhone cus the Pre actually gives you more real estate cus it hides a lot of the buttons from showing on screen even if the physical screen is smaller. Plus the Pre shows more colors so it's a lot more crisp.
