Comparing NEC vs Samsung LCD

oops just realized the Samsung is Analog only

Any other good choices amongst Samsung such as SAMSUNG 940b-Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor - Retail ?

will be used for gaming

I got a Samsung 940B and love it. Months of toiling and research. For gaming, it's hard to go wrong with a 940B. You don't need 4ms. The 940B is blazing fast. Games look great. You gotta run 1280x1024. Be sure your Graphics card is ready for the challenge.

Zero Dead pixels--perfect right out of the box.

Zipzoomfly has it cheaper than newegg and free shipping!
940B

That's a pretty decent price for the 1970GX. It has that glossy coating and looks quite different from most other LCDs. I would definitely get it over the other one (not from Newegg though), although I'm somewhat partial to the coating.

Concern about backlight bleeding is over dramatized. Many LCD's have some level of Backlight bleeding. Mine has no bleeding and zero dead pixels.

On the NEC, man does that screen look great! You put 50 monitors on display, that screen will jump out at you. Colors come alive. The downside, it's very reflective. I checked one out locally. It's hard not to focus on the reflections. Overhead lights, everything behind me, pretty much the whole freakin store was visible. Train your eyes back to the image and it looks beautiful.

The base is the best I've seen, very smooth adjustments. It glides to where you want it and stays put. Freakin awesome everything, except for the glare. If you can find one locally, check it out. It's a sweet monitor, but you have to weigh the glare factor.

Funny, you're exactly where I was two months ago... 😉
