comparing gtx 260 and 4870 with ps3 and xbox360

Although ps3 and xbox 360 r complete systems, can we still compare the latest cards such as gtx 260/280 or 4870 with them? Can we say these cards are faster or slower than the latest consoles? What are the performance figures?

taking a guess i think the newer cards have more raw horsepower relative to the gpus in the consoles?

THe PS3's GPU is slighly less powerful than a Geforce 7800.

Any 8800 series card or better will be considerably more powerful.

a gtx260 or hd4870 will curbstomp a gpu in the ps3 or xbxo 360. But, games for consoles get optimized far better then for the PC. So a console might only need a 7800gt to give you x amount of graphics, where a pc might need a 8800gt for that. So you can't directly compare them just like that. But, if you look at a game like stalker: clear sky, and the graphics it produces ( needing a gtx260 or better or your fps will be crap ) you will conclude that no console game can even come close to that. And, pc games often use higher res textures.
