Comparing Enermax and Enlight power supplies

beer

Lifer
Lately I've been using Enermaxes in all the systems I build, because they are reliable, AMD approved, 330w, and not too expensive.

Well now I find myself building a low-cost system where every dollar counts. All of a sudden, $88 + shipping for an Enlight 7237 and an Enermax 330 seems too much.

At TCWO, I can pick up an Enlight 7239 and an 250w Enlight power supply for $57. The system will have one hard drive, one optical drive, three fans (CPU + 2 case fans) and therefore a 250w will be adequete.

I realize that the Enermaxes are in a completley different league than the Enlights, but will this Enlight be acceptable?

Yeah, with cheaper systems, you need to go with cheaper PS's to keep costs down. And enlight makes a pretty good PS anyway.

Yeah but I'm ordering most of this system from TCWO (processor, case/mobo/cooling) from TCWO and I only pay $6.95 shipping for everything.

Cases are an assload to ship, unfortunately.

I am running my Athlon @ 950Mhz system without a problem, with my 250W Enlight PSU, and they are quite quiet too.

some of the Enermax PS are the most quite out there.

But if you tight budget then go with Enlight!

Heh, going a bit OT here, but i just got one of those Enermax 430W ps's and DAMN are those wires long, I could remote mount that PS on the other side of the fricken room... 😉

Shiznut--Have you ever bought from these guys? No reseller rating, and no answer when I called, and I could not register on there website to order, and there contact page is not accessable.

Damn and thats the power supply I want too. Hell $36 is a great deal, cheapest i've been able to find it was about $50. Too bad

You aren't kidding! I spent hours taping up each string of connectors...I think I might remote mount my Enermax in the attic..hehe😉

Either way you go, the price comes out the same, but you've gotta wonder what's up when the price of the part is really, really low and the freight is REALLY HIGH.

Hmm.......

Just level with me on the freight and don't "pretend" you're cutting me a deal on the product. 😛

Another thing.... can anyone confirm that that 300W is actually an Enlight 300W or not? I used to work at an Enlight distributor and the cases come with and without power supplies.

Yea, how do you tell if it's an Enlight PS?, I purchased a Enlight 7237 w/ 300 watt PS at Jazz Technology, and it came with a Premier PS.

Exactly!

Someone RMA'd an Enlight case to me and I said "That's not one of our cases" and the guy asked "How do you know that?" and I said "Because it has an N'Spire power supply in it instead of an Enlight" (which isn't really a bad thing. They're made by Sparkle). He said, "That's what came with it!" I said, "I never said that's not what came with it! I'm just saying it's not one of ours!" 😛
