Comparing a Celeron 1.0ghz+ to an O/C P3 933?

I currently have a P3 700@933 running on a BE6-II BX motherboard. However, my brother's system needs an upgrade and I was thinking about replacing the P3 with a Celeron 1.0ghz (or as high as I can go, hopefully 1.1 or 1.2ghz) and giving the P3 to my brother.

How would a 1.0ghz, 1.1ghz or 1.2ghz Celeron running at 100FSB compare to a P3 933 running on a 133FSB? I know (typically speaking), a celeron of the same speed as a P3 is considerably slower.

Would it be reasonable to assume I could get the Celeron running on a 133FSB? I don't know how likely that is, but a Celeron 1.0ghz@1.33 would be most excellent.

The Celeron 1.0a is really a Pentium III Tualatin. The only difference is the stock 100MHz fsb and SMP has been disabled. Clock for clock a Tualatin (be it a Celeron or P3) outperforms a coppermine P3 when running on the same fsb speeds. I haven't heard of one single person that hasn't reached a 133MHz fsb with a 1.0a, alot of them hit these speeds at default core voltage. The norm is more like 1400MHz with quite a few now reaching closer to 1500MHz. Your only problem is gonna be the BX chipset does not support the .13 micron Tualatin cpu. There is a mod to make this work, but you have to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into, or you may end up with a dead cpu and/or motherboard.

Another bonus with the 1.0a is it can run without a fan. I have a sv25 shuttle with a 1.0a running with just a alpha pep66 heatsink.

You can get a Powerleap that will make the Tualatin chips run on the BX chipset....thats what i did and it runs really good. You can find one on e-bay for about $60
