??? - compaq x1000 and hp zt3000

whats the difference between these two?
the only thing i notice is that the zt3000 offers a:

-54G wireless LAN
and
-54G wireless LAN and Bluetooth Combo

is there any difference in build quality, etc?

also, why doesnt hp/compaq have WSXGA screens? thats rather annoying.

While I don't know the differences between the x1000 and hp zt3000, I recall reading on x1000forums.com at some point that the x1000 is the same model as the HP nx7000 rather than the zt3000.

No, you are incorrect, they are the same machines. Someone on those forums lied to you, that is if you are recalling correctly.

The X1000 and nx7000 are *exactly* the same. The X1000 and zt3000 use the same bios and are the same internally. Externally the X1000 and zt1000 look different, use different speakers (JBL vs. Harmon Kardon), and the zt3000 has the option to order with 802.11g while the X does not. But no, there is no real difference between them, the fact that they use the same bios vouches for that.

Also, HP/Compaq does have wsxga+ screens on these laptops, I am using one right now. When they are out of stock the option is removed from their site.

Flashram. . . I have ordered the ZT3000 with the 54g wireless option - could only find it on the HP site. Have you been pleased with yours and are there any problems I should be aware of? Thanks

I have the X1000 and have been very pleased with mine. I've had it since early July. Check out my forums, x1000/zt3000 Forums, for all the info you need (or will need).
