Staples has the Compaq Presario V2000 for $399.99 after a $50 MIR. This is build to order and so will have a shipping charge. I don't know how much Staples charges for this. OD is $40 and CompUSA is=$90 (I think). Could kill the deal if you can't get it waived. Look for any $ off coupons to add to it. Also you can get $10 in free shipping with Staples receipt for at least $100 in purchases.

Compaq
256MB RAM
8x DVD-ROM
14" display
56K modem 10/100 ethernet
Win XP home

I just tried to buy this online, but when I add to my cart it says it's not available due to my delivery area. So this may already be sold out, not sure what that means.

Just checked today. Shipping is $75.

Don't forget, you can also get the HP Deskjet 5940 for $20 after $20 instant savings and $50 mail-in rebate with the purchase of this (or any) laptop. Saw this in the ad.

cd-rw = $50 upgrade
wifi = $25 upgrade
shipping = $75 (called assembly fee)

with upgrades and shipping = $550 AR

Not hot unless u can get the shipping waived.

Anyone who can't get a wifi adapter for a lot less than $25 ought to be drummed out of Hot Deals. :)

Who the hell wants a PCMCIA WiFi card?

But yes, mini-PCI cards can be had decently cheap assuming the antennas are installed.
