I received mine yesterday from eCost. I am ecstatic so far.

I have it hooked up to to analog GE Force Ti2 64MB card with a AMD 1800 CPU.

Nice and bright. Colors are terrific. No ghosting that I could notice but I was just able to fool around with Giants for a few minutes. Very substantial and appears to be very well made.

So far so good.

Bump for what we cant find on FW.

Interesting. I would like to read about this thing too on FW. Y would it have 6 inputs really puzzles me unless, you have 6 rigs and only one lcd display.

Or dis this thing automatically divides the input and display on the screen in a half half manner? This may be an 18inch but wouldnt that make the screen seemingly very small?

But.... at this price and this spec. This is pretty hot price.

Users Guide:

http://h71025.www7.hp.com/support/reference_library/viewdocument.asp?countrycode=1000&prodid=5354|TFT8030+Monitor&source=237159-001.xml&dt=264&docid=8928

As best I can tell from the doc:

Basically you have 2 'channels' for input selection and you make 1 connection to each channel:

Channel 1 - VGA or DVI
Channel 2 - VGA or DVA or SVideo or CompositeVideo

The monitor can be set up to 'scan' for first available signal on each channel, or you can manuall select...

There is also a 'pip' function which will allow you to overlay the channel 2 video signal onto the channel 1 data...so you can surf the web and watch video on in a pip window...

-Sounds nice...I actually have a couple dell 1800 fp I got on deal 2 weeks ago, and will compare to the compaq tft8030...The dell is very nice, my only real complaint is that when watching pc/dvd some dark scenes are TOO dark...otherwise, very nice.

Basically 6 inputs, but only can utilize two at a time at most? not as hot as I though but nonetheless good value for the money. Let me know how it campars to the Dell. I'm getting either this one or the Dell.

Kev

PS- 2 Dells and 2 of these? That's off the hook yo!

So has anyone received theirs? How is it? I can't seem to find a review anywhere online about this display.

I got this deal through FW like 2 weeks ago. Awesome LCD. I also have a Sony S51 15" LCD and a Sony 19" 400PS at home. The Color quality on the Compaq is very good, just a bit lower then the Sony's; but as good as any Samsung out there right now. The screen is bright and sharp even using just an analog input. There is very very minor ghosting when I play fast FPS games on it, but response time is lower then most 18" out there (usually 25-35ms...) DVD video play back through the PC is good. I have it looked up to a VCR (RCA input), S-Video switch box w/PS2 and gamecube (S-Video Input) and analog input HD15 through one PC. RCA and S-Video quality is good and no video signal problem, I think it is as good as it will get since they both are analog signal... Video through RCA in "Full Screen" (Cable signal) is not as sharp as the TV Tuner through the PC, but it is great in PIP. I find myself using PIP alot, watching TV while doing things on the PC without taking performance hit by using TV Tuner card. PS2 video quality on this LSD is good. You can't adjust the screen vertically, but with this LCD you really don't need to. The viewing angles are excellent. The styling is conservative. This is better then the Dell 18" in my opinion. The color quality is still not as good as a Sony and I wish there is a button for PIP instead of going through the onscreen menu, but that¡¦s about it. I personally would give this LCD an 8/10.

BTW this LCD is "Powered by pixelworks" ~Link~

So it sounds like you can use more than two inputs connected to the monitor? the switching on the LCD allows you to switch from the different inputs? I have like 5 machines so I would like to be abel to have them connected to the LCD. I have a kvm swithc ut it is of poor qualtiy.

So what do you use for Speakers? I understand you have the VCR through the composite port that acts as a tuner but were does the sound play through?
