Compaq SR1222NX Desktop P4 LGA775 i915G w/17" CRT (warm)

I'm not fond of pre-builts or HP/Compaq, but I confess to being a tad smitten by Compaq's SR Chassis as an excellent mATX Tower with all the FP/IO connectivity. This system comes with the crappy i915G integrated graphics but has an available PCI Express x16 slot for upgrade (c/o ASUS mainboard), plus SATA, Firewire, and Realtek HD Audio.

Compaq® Presario SR1222NX-B Desktop Tower
- Pentium® 4 515 2.93GHz (533MHz FSB)
- 256MB PC3200
- 80GB 7200RPM SATA
- 16x DVD-ROM
- 48x CDRW
- 9-in-1 Card Reader
- 7 USB 2.0 ports
- 2 FireWire ports
- 10/100 Ethernet
- 56K Modem
- 17" Flatscreen CRT Monitor
- JBL Speakers
- and more...

$150.00 Presario Package MIR (from OfficeDepot)

$50.00 + $50.00 Holiday 2004 Bundle MIR (from HP/Compaq)

Note that OfficeDepot's advert describes the promotion as $150 + $50 in rebates, but the Holiday Bundle rebate form is indeed for $50 + $50 (computer + monitor). So there's an extra $50.00 in rebates that OfficeDepot isn't advertising.

would it be possible to use an online coupon to make it lower? or would that invalidate the rebates?

I don't see why not, if you can find a OD coupon valid on technology items.

$450.00 AMIR is pretty good. You can't duplicate this system for less than $550 unless you spend weeks waiting for hot deals on components. The components conservatively would break down similar to this:

Tower w/PSU - $40
Asus 915G mainboard - $90
Pentium® 4 515 2.93GHz - $130
256MB PC3200 - $25
80GB 7200RPM SATA - $60
16x DVD-ROM - $20
48x CDRW - $20
9-in-1 Card Reader - $10
56K Modem - $10
17" Flatscreen CRT Monitor - $70
XP Home License - $50
KB, Mouse, Spkrs - $35

And I've yet to see a Mini-Tower for less than $60.00 that is as nice as the Compaq SR Chassis. Compaq's FS7555 monitor is also one grade better than most of the $69.99 rebate special monitors commonly seen.

thanks for the effort! i don't like the drive trays, plus i got all these agp cards
but a deal is a deal, plus compaq rebates are pretty good ime
so bump
