When I ordered my R3000Z laptop it came with a 256MB chip installed.
I later added a 512MB chip to the slot underneath the case.
Normally you see two banks and in my case one would be free, as the other would have the 256MB chip.
But I only saw one empty memory slot there. So I installed the 512mb chip there, booted up and had 768MB total.
At the time I did not sweat it. I was happy to from 256MB to 256MB+512MB (768MB).
Today I want to replace the 256mb chip with another 512MB module for a total of 1gb ram.
But where is the 256MB memory chip?
Is the 256MB memory onboard... I hope not!!
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Mer.
