I recently bought a Compaq R3000Z notebook.
Specs are:-

AMD XP-M 3000+ (1600Mhz)
256 MB ddr
nvidia geforce 32mb

I want to install an additional 512mb module.
I bought a GEIL 512mb pc3200 module from Newegg.com.
DDR400 CL=3-8-3-3

The notebooks boots into winXP and runs for about 10 mins before the system hangs.

Any ideas on whether I've got the correct type of memory?
Should I be using PC2700?
Different CL timings?

Any help would be appreciated here.

I have checked out Crucial's website and my GEIL chip seems to match what they say my notebook requires.

I did notice that with the GEIL chip installed the system did boot into winXP a little slower than with just the original 256Mb. Yes, very weird!!

I am trying to get a total of 256 (factory installed in bay1) + 512mb (GEIL chip in bay2) = 768MB.

Please help me out.

Sweetness,
Mer.
