Hello,
A friend of mine brought me her laptop today, for me to "fix" it, and i'm kind of stuck. When i want to turn it on, windows start to load, but after about 15 seconds i get a blue screen and a restart.
Safe more, last known good configuration don't work. I thought i'd just reinstall windows, but when i load XP setup it says that the drive partition is "unknown" and the drive needs to be formatted.
That's bad because she doesn't have ANY backups at all, and there are a LOT of data on the drive that need to be saved.
I tried running the laptop's built in HDD test, and it ran for about 50minutes returning a FAIL message, so i confirmed that the drive is the problem.
So, what are my solutions now? Can i try connecting the drive to my PC and run some recovery program on it to try and get back as much data as i can??
Is it even possible to connect a laptop HDD to my PC, because i pulled it out and the connector looks like a miniature IDE?
Any help would be appreciated, so thanx
