Hi. Okay, so I got my R4000 about two monthes ago for about $900 (Athlon 64 3200+/100GB HD/Xpress 200M) after rebates and I've been quite happy with it.
However, recently I put in 2x512MB sticks of OCZ DDR400 SO-DIMM and lo and behold, I do not get dual channel.
I'm certain that HP uses the RS480 board in the R4000 and thus it should be socket 939. But if that's true than it should be able to handle dual channel. Yet it doesn't seem to support it.
Also, a quick CPU-Z check reveals that the Athlon 64 3200+ is a 130nm Newcastle (DH7-CG) indicating a socket 754 (hence no dual channel). Yet CPU-Z clearly states it as socket 939.
Just wtf is going on here?
Help would be appreciated
