I couldn't help myself and decided to open up the box and try it before I give it to my brother. It turns out that this laptop's processor isn't a normal Athlon XP-m. It's actually closer to a Sempron. It has 256K L2 cache and it's a socket 754 CPU. I'm pretty sure that the 64bit part of the chip is dissabled, but CPU-Z identified it as a clawhammer. I benchmarked it in Quake 3 fastest setting and got 191 frames per second.

This laptop rocks, and I wish I was going to keep it instead of give it away for Christmas...
 
Picked one up at BB B&M today. Also got the 2-yr warranty as it comes with replacement batteries. Will probably open tonite as daughter is heading back to college tomorrow (and it's to replace her trashed 2.5 yr old HP - Keys starting to fail, battery died, one USB port broken etc...)

I hope this is a robust one this time. I'll inherit her old one to use around the house.

p.s. Can the Keyboards on the HP5445N be replaced easily and what is a good source to purchase?
